Rachel Plasterer - Associate Veterinarian

Rachel Plasterer

Dr. Plasterer is a California native who was born and raised in the Bay Area. In elementary school, her biggest dream was saving all the National Parks and as a 9-year-old used to tell everyone that she wanted to be the Secretary of the Department of the Interior…or a vet if that didn’t work out. She attended University of California, Davis for her undergraduate education receiving a bachelor of science in Wildlife Biology with a specialization in Wildlife Health. And yes, she does have plenty of cute duckling photos to share from her time in waterfowl research. She worked for a few years as a Wildlife Biologist, Veterinary Assistant, and Wildlife Rehabilitator prior to returning to UC Davis for her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

After veterinary school, Dr. Plasterer completed an intensive rotating internship at Veterinary Specialty Hospital of North County. She fell in love with San Diego and decided to stay down here to let her herding breed mix, Rex, live his best beach life. She has a passion for fostering the human animal bond between pet parents and their fur babies, practicing data-driven and high-quality medicine, and expanding access to care.

In her down time, you can find Dr. Plasterer roaming beaches and trails with her pup and trying to keep her bird identification skills sharp from her university days.
