Rhianne Maxwell - Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Rhianne Maxwell was raised in San Diego.

She attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo for her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and her Master's degree in Comparative Animal Nutrition. During her studies, Dr. Maxwell worked various roles in veterinary clinics, animal husbandry, university laboratories, the San Diego Zoo, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. She also served on the board of directors for the Comparative Nutrition Society.

After realizing her passion for both clinical nutrition and medicine, she studied at the University of California, Davis for veterinary school. As a student she demonstrated a continued interest in nutrition and was a student ambassador for Nestle Purina. Following graduation, Dr. Maxwell completed an internship to receive advanced training in internal medicine, critical care, and surgery at VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic in the Sacramento area

Dr. Maxwell's favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is helping pet owners care for their animals. Her professional interests include nutrition, internal medicine, pain management, and dentistry. Dr. Maxwell is also Fear Free certified and strives to alleviate pet fear, anxiety, and stress in the veterinary clinic. As an owner of a generally anxious mini poodle mix and a situationally anxious tuxedo kitty, she aims to create a visit that would help her own pets feel at ease.

During her free time, she loves dining out with friends and family, experimenting with recipes in the kitchen, finding a new video game or puzzle to immerse herself in, and spending quality time with her pets.
